A sewer backup or a failing water main is not something to guess at. We run a sewer camera with a locating transmitter to find the exact break, clog or root intrusion before any digging starts, so the repair targets the actual problem instead of trenching the whole yard. When a section has to be dug up and replaced, we do it with our own excavator, not a rental on someone else’s schedule.
This covers both the sewer lateral (the line from the building to the city’s main) and the water service bringing water in from the street. In Seattle and most King County cities, everything from the building to the city connection is the property owner’s responsibility, and a permit is required for repair or replacement.
